About Us

Serving Bay St. George South

Three Rivers Mi’kmaq Band Inc. is a not-for-profit Indigenous community service provider incorporated in March 2020. Our community includes Fischells River, Heatherton, Robinsons, Cartyville, McKay’s, Jeffrey’s, St. David’s, St. Fintan’s, Lochleven, and the Highlands.

Our mandate is to provide services that support the health, social, cultural, and economic betterment of citizens in Bay St. George South. We work to support community wellness, access to services, food security, employment, education, cultural preservation, emergency preparedness, and long-term community development.

As an Indigenous organization, we support all our families. Our work is status-blind and community-based, focused on helping people access practical supports and build a stronger future together.

Our mission is to improve the social fabric of our community and develop services, employment, and community wellbeing that are self-sustaining and independent.

Chief Margaret “Peggy” White

Chief Margaret White is the Chief and CEO of Three Rivers Mi’kmaq Band Inc. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, a Juris Doctor from Dalhousie Law School, and a Master of Laws from the University of Arizona specializing in Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy. Her work has included service with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mi’kmaq Legal Support Services, and Kwilmu’kw Maw-Klusuaqn Negotiation Office. Chief White is dedicated to the people and communities of Newfoundland.

Upcoming Event

Wildfire & Emergency Preparedness Meeting

Join Three Rivers Mi’kmaq Band and community partners to learn practical steps for protecting your home, family, and community. The meeting will focus on wildfire awareness, FireSmart preparedness, and emergency planning for Bay St. George South.

New Band Office

A new community service space to support administration, outreach, programs, food security, and access to services.

Food Bank & Food Hub

Non-judgmental food support for community members, with plans to expand community meals and food security programming.

FireSmart & Emergency Preparedness

Wildfire risk assessment, brush clearing, emergency planning, public education, and coordination with local emergency partners.

Housing Supports

Developing safe, supportive housing options and wraparound services for families, seniors, and people at risk of homelessness.

Agriculture & Food Sovereignty

Planning local food-growing initiatives, gardens, greenhouses, workshops, and long-term food sovereignty projects.

Community Outreach

Building participation through workshops, cultural activities, volunteer opportunities, and practical supports for rural residents.

The Three Rivers Mi’kmaq Band Food Bank and Food Hub helps local individuals and families access basic food and essential supports in a respectful, welcoming, and confidential way.

Community Support

Food support for people facing hardship, transportation barriers, high food costs, or emergency need.

Community members, businesses, and partners can help by donating food, supplies, or financial support.
